Fitting Knobs & Handles
Just
Doors
Drill the initial hole with a small drill bit (eg 2mm), then use the correct size drill bit for the size of screw. This way you won't take a large piece of the laminate out of the door as the drill comes through. We then use a slightly larger drill than the screws require, to give you some play - this is useful if you haven't drilled at exactly a 90° angle.
We always hold the door open when we're drilling - this way we ensure that the handle goes on the correct side of the door.
If you're fitting handles, B&Q sell a cheap template which enables you to correctly space the 2 holes - alternatively, you could make a template from a piece of board. Some knobs/handles come with long snap-off screws - they're awkward to cut to the correct length, and they can be difficult to screw into the handle. You'll save alot of time by throwing them away and getting some M4 25mm machine screws.
